The Education Minister, Huw Lewis, has this month published details of funding for schools participating in the Schools Challenge Cymru scheme. Michaelston/Glyn Derw Federation received revenue funding of £348,629, whilst Cantonian High received £187,745. This equates to an investment of over half a million pounds in Cardiff West’s schools, which will go directly to those areas identified as needing most improvement.
Schools Challege Cymru identifies ‘Pathways to Success’ schools, including Glyn Derw/Michaelston and Cantonian, as schools which need targeted investment. Each school is assigned a specialist adviser with a proven track record of school improvement, whose aim is to provide tailored packages of support to help each school respond to their unique challenges.
