Economy Minister Edwina Hart has announced the creation of more than 20 new IT jobs in Central Cardiff Enterprise Zone as a new marketing suite opens to showcase the city as a prime destination for inward investment.
DevOpsGuys is setting up headquarters in Central Cardiff Enterprise Zone, creating 22 jobs with Welsh Government support. Mrs Hart will welcome this latest new investment at the launch of Cardiff’s new marketing suite at 3 Assembly Square, Cardiff Bay, also to be attended by DevOpsGuys founders James Smith and Stephen Thair. The suite is designed to showcase the city region and promote investment opportunities to business clients.
The Minister Hart said:
“DevOpsGuys is the latest business to invest in Cardiff Enterprise Zone and I am delighted that a new, innovative technology company working in one of our key sectors is setting up its HQ and development centre here. Wales was in national and international competition for both these projects and I am delighted Cardiff was chosen as the preferred location for both functions.
“The availability of staff with the required skills levels and qualifications was a key consideration and Cardiff came out top which reinforces our message that we have the graduates with the skills needed to support business growth.”
DevOpsGuys has set up a technical delivery and operations centre as well as an administrative and sales office. The inward investment is backed by £245K business finance from the Welsh Government, securing the project for Wales and creating high-paid, high-skilled jobs.
The business, incorporated in March 2013, allows customers to focus on adding value to their business and accelerating time-to-market. They provide the expertise necessary for building, launching, maintaining and optimising applications; managing websites to allow clients to focus on running their business.
Although the business was only set up in 2013 it has already secured impressive contracts and accredited partners with major global blue chip organisations. It has already gained G-Cloud Government accreditation and secured a major contract under the G-Cloud framework.
James Smith and Stephen Thair, the founders of the company, have over 40 years’ experience managing enterprise web applications for global blue chip companies. DevOpsGuys offers a 24/7 service managing client websites, monitoring and effectively managing any incidents or issues, allowing clients to concentrate on their core business.
James Smith said:
“We will be servicing an international market and Cardiff offers a great location for our business. This investment and expansion will enable us to scale up our operations significantly to cater for existing contracts and take advantage of market opportunities.
“We value the support from the Welsh Government to set up in Cardiff and look forward to growing the business in Wales and becoming a valued member of the growing IT cluster in the region.”
